KPFA
Generations of people have worked hard to make this community training program what it is today. We are currently building on our foundation of community radio and broadcast skills to encompass multi-media and information technology, as well as economic and financial literacy.
We are looking for people who can contribute to this expansion. If you have been looking to integrate sustainable economics, media expression, new technology and have a sense of social and spiritual responsibility, then First Voice may be for you.
If you come from an under-represented community, are adaptable, understanding, committed, have a positive outlook and are willing to work in a diverse group setting, we encourage you to apply.

THE PROGRAM

The program is currently 18 months (mandatory) with an additional 6 month post graduation phase. The program is intensive and demanding, with two night classes and one dayshift per week. Everyone is required to spend one business day each week working at KPFA radio, 94.1 FM in Berkeley. The dayshift is a five hour shift and runs on an intergenerational group learning model, with each phase teaching the next. The Dayshift integrates service to the radio station, skills acquired in classes, motivation and leadership.
The projected time commitment averages 20 hours a week.
