At my urging the PNB agreed by consensus, last week, to direct Nathan Moore, National Programming Director, to create an editorial, for suggested airing on all of the Pacifica Network stations, against invading Iran. The Bush Administration and its Congressional allies are systematically trying to convince the American people that Iran is a clear and present threat to the United States. But like in the lead up to the Iraq War, the Administration has been using unreliable sources, exaggerated threat assessments, selective use of information, and questionable accusations about Iran’s nuclear program. A United States strike on Iran would directly lead to the deaths of tens, if not hundreds, of thousands of Iranian men, women, and children.

The Pacifica National Board calls for strong leadership in Congress to oppose war or any military action against Iran. Pacifica further calls on Congress to limit the authority of the President to initiate war against any country in the world without Congressional approval.
