The SF Bayview has a long history of support for KPFA and they need our
help. Please consider supporting them.
Thank you, Chandra

We’ll be looking for you this evening, when Akinyele Sadiq and his
ensemble, The Troublemakers Union, play international music for human
rights, a benefit concert for the Bay View, at 8 p.m. at Station 40,
3030-B 16th St. at Mission in San Francisco , across from 16th Street BART.
And this coming Wednesday, Feb. 20, at 6 p.m., POCC: Block Report Radio
and the Bay View will be hosting a discussion between POCC Chairman Fred
Hampton Jr. and legendary Asian activist Yuri Kochiyama about El Hajj
Malik el Shabazz, formerly known as Malcolm X, and the history of the
Black Liberation Movement and its principled coalitions, at the Black
New World, 836 Pine St. in West Oakland’s Lower Bottoms.
These are fundraisers for the Bay View, and more are in the works. Yes,
once again, the Bay View needs your help. We have some great plans for
long term sustainability, but in the short term we need you to keep our
home fires burning so we can keep those fiery stories coming out in
support of the local and global movements that are making history in
2008. What kind of history is up to us.
For both these events, we need your presence even more than your dollars
– they’ll be that enriching and inspiring. And no one will be turned
away for lack of funds. But if you do have something to spare, please
bless us with it, as we’re a step away from disaster (familiar terrain).
If you’d rather mail a donation, please send it to Bay View, 4917 Third

Here are this week’s fiery stories. Another hot commentary in our series
of revelations on KPFA and Pacifica is ready to post and should be in
the Web Exclusives column soon.
